Universities HR launches People Management Framework

Universities HR is launching a new framework for assessing the effectiveness of an organisation's people management interventions. The People Management Framework (PMF), developed in collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers and with funding from HEFCE and UHR, enables universities to measure the impact of their people management practices on institutional performance. The framework has the ability to transform the impact of HR in universities, by enabling them to identify which HR practices and initiatives make a real difference, which is what the HR profession strives to achieve.
Piloted in seven very different institutions, it has proved an innovative and successful way of measuring the effectiveness of people management activities and connecting them with organisational outcomes and key performance indicators.
Matthew Knight, incoming Chair of UHR and HR Director at the University of Leeds said, "We see the PMF as a vital support to the review and development of our HR strategy. The benchmarking potential will also be a fantastic way to measure the strategic decisions against the methods of other universities. "
Nick Rogers, project lead and incoming Director of HR at the University of the Arts, London, commented "We've had a really enthusiastic response since launching it at the HR Directors' Day in June, and have been invited to present it at professional conferences in Australia and the USA.
